Problem solved. Tried it in Repetier - non-manifold error. Ran it through netfabb repair. XYZware slices fine.

]]>Thanks. What puzzles me is that it worked fine for the first try - just loaded it in, sliced it up, printed it out - worked great. Then I go to the next one and it's freaking.

I have been digging into the firmware update ... there seem to be multiple variations / flavors of the jailbreak. Is there a particular thread/page that you recommend to follow? I ask because I understand everything that's talked about in the jailbreaking threads in principle, but am much more attuned to mechanical design than electrical circuits... so my first stab is going to be somewhat cookbook.

My printer is down at the moment. Discovered one of the rods on the z axis was bent and cuasing my models to have a slight curve on the front portion. I pulled the rod today and am taking it to work tonight to have it a new one cut to the same size. I will get it back in after work and try your print.
I can tell you I tried once to print the one piece crescent wrench which has raised letter like your card and they did not print on stock software either. I don't think the stock software and slice can interpret those raised letters correctly.

Well, the software updated (without asking me) when I opened it up before I began having all this trouble.
I tried uninstalling and installing the v29 software linked to through the XYZ open mod topic. I also tried the XYZ open mod .exe replacement (which is actually what I had been using earlier when it worked). Nothing works.Now I went in and re-installed the latest XYZware (v34.7). Still not working.
Tried re-exporting the DWG from Illustrator in mm, and working in Creo Direct in mm - had a strange scaling issue, but extruded, etc and exported from Creo in mm. Imported into XYZ just fine, but still slicing off the top 'layer' (1.8mm). You can see what looks like traces of the details in places, like someone started to draw them on the base 'block'. Have also tried printing to see if just displaying wrong ... prints exactly like it looks.
BTW, I have tried this on normal, good, and excellent ... and changing the settings manually to .1mm layer height. No success.
Have though about jailbreaking the printer and putting Repetier on it, but hesitant to bite the bullet 'til it's out of warranty in June.
Post your STL file if you don't mind, or link us to it and I will see if it does the same on my Da Vinci 1.0 running Repetier. If possible post your gcode as well.
As long as you keep or have a copy of the original firmware they cannot tell if you change it or not. So you could jailbreak it and then if you need to return it just put the old firmware back in.

]]>Have a STL model of a solid base .15 inches high, with details .07 high raised off of that.
Already printed off one successfully using XYZWare.
Now, it continually just leaves off the .07inches of detail and just wants to print a raised box EVERY time I try to slice it - with v29 and the latest version both.Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Have you made any changes to the software since the successful print? .07 inches is about 1.75mm so is no reason it should get cut off unless you are instructing it to do so somehow which I don't think is possible with stock software. Try switching to better quality and see if it works. What layer height are you trying to print at?
Not to nitpick but it is also best if you use millimeters for your measurements since that is what the printer is set up for by default and most of us use and stay with that convention even if in the US.
