I just matched the colors on a 4 pin molex I had on hand from my RUMBA kit and it worked fine. If you are concerned they might not be the same hook a multimeter to all possible pairs. There are 2 windings so find the two pairs that generate voltage when you spin it. Pretty sure as long as you match the colors it will be fine but don't quote me on that- I don't want you to burn up a driver by mistake.

With 1/32 microstepping I have 352 steps per mm on Y. The motor definitely sounds weird with that many steps, for sure.

There are infinitely many sizes of NEMA 17s: the Nema 17 standard only defines the face plate size and bolt hole spacing. Length is not specified. Any NEMA 17 can be bolted to a Solidoodle.

I got a 60 oz in 0.9 atepper for my y axis for $11 or so on Amazon so that may not be the best deal. I don't know about the torque myself.
