Repetier firmware will give you access to internal settings like esteps and stuff like that to better fine tune the printer but it is not necessary. </p><p>For me it is a cost issue. I bought my 1.0 on ebay from that guy that was selling returns in various conditions before XYZ stopped him. I bought mine for $250 with what was said to be a jammed extruder. Fired it up and it worked out of the box. So I can&#039;t rationalize $150 software on a $250 printer. I am actually going to swap out the main-board so I can use any open source firmware and Host.</p>]]></content>
