You may have to shut down everything, unplug usb cable and start over. sending a reset g-code sometimes helps, it is somewhere in these posts. It's not the glue that's the problem, it's the printer and software. Hairspray is more forgiving.

I've tried Elmer's washable school glue (disappearing purple), Elmer's extra strength glue stick and Scotch craft stick.  I wash the bed between attempts and apply the glue when the bed is cool.  I also remove the filament hanging on the nozzle.  Attached is a photo of the filament just staying on the nozzle after a z calibration attempt.

Any thoughts on what I should try next?
