]]> https://www.soliforum.com/user/78/ 2013-01-03T21:21:27Z https://www.soliforum.com/post/8442/#p8442 <![CDATA[Re: Large format?]]> In all reality making it would probably be the easiest aspect.  Refining all the issues and fixing any bugs might be something that never really stops with the current technology.  Having a build area so big I think your only option would be to try and utilize a heated build area,  and being say 50x50x6 (just a guess), that's a lot of area to keep really warm for what would be an extremely long time.

Issues:

Time. You're probably going to be extruding a LOT of plastic on a part like that. It could take days.
Axis flexibility. You have to make very long axes, which means they can't be on unsupported 8mm rods without considerable bending. You'd have to use a different method of linear travel.

What are some of software changes i would need to consider. I need to prototype long and wide pieces, at this time not so tall but I assume height would just be an extension of the other dimensions.

Would my only limitations be an adjustment to the control software and building a larger scale machine? I am new to this so please be kind.
