IMPORTANT INFO: I sent away for a resetter so I could get cheaper filament elsewhere. The user guide included a notice that XYZ is sending out new firmware THAT WILL MAKE YOUR PRINTER STALL AND REFUSE TO PRINT IF IT IDENTIFIES AN OPENED CARTRIDGE WITH 3RD PART FILAMENT. If you refuse the new firmware, the new code will get installed anyway in the background. The update does not include any new code that improves performance, it is just for stopping us from using anyone else's filament. The instructions also advised that I get Little Snitch which is an app that has a window pop up whenever there is background communication with outside providers of software, hardware, etc... XYZ is the only company that has this type of restrictive policy. Personally, I am ticked off that they would try to control my purchasing options---especially by installing barriers without my knowledge. If you can code, etc.. you can work around it or if your not code literate you can reinstall the older firmware.
