Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of info and discussion about the davini printers here .

If you go to the http://www.thingiverse.com/newest page and do a search for cookie cutter or stencil you will see lots of choices. Not an off the wall idea. But you may need to mod the davinci to do food safe plastics.
Tin

Hey Trisha!
I am sure you may have already seen, but Soliforum has a section dedicated to DaVinci printers.
If you are able to upload photos of your results, it would certainly help everyone understand what is going on.

And as far as food safe materials go, you could use PLA if you are making cookie cutters, but there is a material called T-Glase made by Taulman which is FDA approved.
Welcome to the community!

Hi everyone...My name is Trisha and I got a 3-D printer (DaVinci 1.0) for my birthday from my husband. My son has tried to help me with getting it going, and we have made a few items, but they are no where close to the quality that I have seen from other 3-D printers. So...here I am. Within the first five minutes on the site, I have realized that there is A LOT that I need to learn and understand...so I signed up and here I am. I am a mother, grandmother and wife as well as a student...I went back to school two years ago when my floral business closed down due to the economy. My hobby is baking...so my husband thought that I could use this printer for making cookie cutters and stencils. (No, he does not understand food safe or types of plastic or any of that...that's a different issue.)

My son, however, is very excited about the printer and is already designing chess set pieces and such to print. He is a student in 3-D art and animation...so at least he can speak some of this language. Me...I'm an anthropologist. I am not a tech idiot...but it is not my favorite pastime...its a tool.

Thank you in advance for everything!!
Trisha McNeill
