Sometimes easy to lose a line on regular micrometers. so electronic calipers are a good way to double check measurements.
  You never need to worry about  the battery going dead on verniers or dial calipers but mine are all in inch so metric requires conversion.

vernier calipers most of the time. To me they are more accurate.

I tend to have a half dozen electronic measuring tools  around so bulk batteries a good thing. I keep in the freezer until I need them. Seems like every time I pick one up the battery need replacement.
The HF electronic indicators are nice to have as well.

I have probably purchased a couple dozen of them over the years of various brands and styles new and used. Some dial mostly electronic.  I never had ones with fraction Had to learn to convert years ago can do most in my head. And have a calculator.
A lot of the HF ones are a little rough around the edges and need some deburring.
But for the price you can not beat them for having next to the 3d printer IMHO a must have tool for calibrating the machine..
I suggest batteries from http://sr44.com/ if you buy 25 the shipping is free. These are energizer brand 357 batteries not cheap import alkaline batteries.

It's the first on that I have had that does mm, inches and also fraction of an inch. If nothing else it is now easy to convert inches to fractions.It's a Pittsburgh  brand from  Harbor freight(item # 68304)
