It&#039;s chosen as the solvent that popularly dissolves it and not ABS (limonene) is not too toxic.<br />* PVA (you&#039;re thinking of this) is also used as a support material, but it does dissolve in water.</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>HIPS (high impact polystyrene) is a material in and of itself. Even though it&#039;s ability to be dissolved in some solvents is often exploited for use as a support material in 3D printing, it doesn&#039;t mean that&#039;s the only use for it.</p><p>dubbsd, you&#039;ll have to clarify what you mean by &quot;durable&quot; - sounds like that would depend on the application. Do you need strength? Wear resistance? Based purely on material properties, it looks like in general ABS is stiffer, stronger, more wear resistant and more impact resistant.
