The bed will be 1/2 inch glass framed with aluminum extrusion around 12 to 14 inches square, so having it loaded won't be an issue!

]]> https://www.soliforum.com/user/4515/ 2014-12-18T00:30:05Z https://www.soliforum.com/post/75637/#p75637 <![CDATA[Backlash with Non-Captive stepper motors]]> I'm considering options for the Z-axis on my printer build.  I've seen quite a few Non-Captive steppers in sizes I could use that have the threaded rod included.  It really won't be a big issue, unless I intend to use Z-lift, but I'm curious if anyone has had experience with these motors and the kind of backlash I will experience with them.

I'm going to be mounting it directly in the middle of the bed, and all four corners of the bed will be guided by the vslot frame and mini v-wheels.  I shouldn't have any wobble at all, so as long as I have the up and down motions in check I can order this motor.

My main goal is to avoid using 2 steppers on the z axis.
