			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>I figured it would have some play, there doesn&#039;t seem to be much out there about them.</p><p>The bed will be 1/2 inch glass framed with aluminum extrusion around 12 to 14 inches square, so having it loaded won&#039;t be an issue!</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Looks like a trap thread and a plain brass/bronze nut in the motor - this will have backlash designed in to prevent binding, but as long as you load it in one direction (e.g. with the mass of the bed) then it won&#039;t change thread faces and you probably won&#039;t see much presenting.</p>]]></content>

			<title type="html"><![CDATA[Backlash with Non-Captive stepper motors]]></title>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>I&#039;m considering options for the Z-axis on my printer build.&nbsp; I&#039;ve seen quite a few Non-Captive steppers in sizes I could use that have the threaded rod included.&nbsp; It really won&#039;t be a big issue, unless I intend to use Z-lift, but I&#039;m curious if anyone has had experience with these motors and the kind of backlash I will experience with them.</p><p>I&#039;m going to be mounting it directly in the middle of the bed, and all four corners of the bed will be guided by the vslot frame and mini v-wheels.&nbsp; I shouldn&#039;t have any wobble at all, so as long as I have the up and down motions in check I can order this motor.</p><p>This is the one I&#039;m considering:<br /><a href="http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/nema-23-noncaptive-linear-stepper-motor-56mm-body-400mm-lead-screw-t11-x-2-p-153.html">http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/nema-2 … p-153.html</a></p><p>My main goal is to avoid using 2 steppers on the z axis.</p>]]></content>
