I do have a the walls covered using clear plastic film held up with magnets, but I didn't have the top covered, which is probably where most of the heat is escaping. I had my bed temp at 95C and extruder at 195C but I guess it's colder now so that might have something to do with it.

Had the same problems till I enclosed mine.   Also before you start your print, allow the bed and chamber to heat soak a while. I give my about 10mins after the bed get to temp.

]]> https://www.soliforum.com/user/134/ 2014-12-16T12:52:25Z https://www.soliforum.com/post/75414/#p75414 <![CDATA[Re: Printing Issue - Layers splitting after being printed]]> An enclosure helps  (make a temp with cardboard or Saran wrap) don't forget to cover the top.  The idea is to maintain a good chamber temp.  Set the bed temp at 105-108 and try a layer height of .2963mm.  The hairspray isn't causing your issue.
As the ABS Cools as it shrinks and causes warping and layers to tear apart.  Keeping the temp stable will help even out the shrinkage.  You can also increase your extruder temp to improve the bond between layers.  Experiment with different infill rates.

I've been having issues printing parts that are taller than .50". The layers above seem to start splitting after being printed. Not sure what the issue is. The part initial sticks to the bed, but as the print continues the edges seems to lift up.

Is it possible the chemicals from the hairspray cause the splitting or the color of the filament?
In the past, I was able to print taller parts using beige and I didn't use hairspray. I didn't need hairspray b/c the area wasn't as large.
