Instead of using the model you found on Thingy verse, do what Ian has suggested. IN case you don't have a modeling program, here is a simple model to calibrate your printer. It has both a cube and a cylinder.

The cube is 15x15x15mm. The cylinder is also 15mm tall, but it's 23mm diameter. If your printer makes good circles, you should be able to put a nickel in the hole, with very little room to spare.

Slice the model with 0% infill, 1 perimeter 2-3 layers bottom and 0 layers top. If you slice this with .1mm layers, you should get 149 layers (since your first layer is usually 2x the thickness. Your single perimeter walls should be the same thickness as your extrusion (.48mm).

Good luck, and post photos of your print.

The better way to do a calibration cube is use a solid cube, then print with 0 infill so it only prints the perimeters. Set it to 1 perimeter and stop it before it gets to the top, unless you are using a slicer with Vase mode, like Kisslicer. Then if you have extrusion width set to .42 you should get .42 walls, if it is set to .48 you should get .48 walls. I like to set mine to 0 infill and 3 perimeters. If my extrusion width is set to .42, then I should see 1.26 walls. I feel like that is a better representation of an actual print. In addition to measuring with the caliper you can look at how well the perimeters are laid out, and see if they are bunched up with ridges (over-extrusion) or starting to get gaps in between (under-extrusion).

hmmm okay ill try that.

So following the instructions on thingiverse for this object....
i had calibrated my printer for .4mm nozzle head to print this to .4mm wall thickness on Slic3r.

First i got my Esteps/min right. Then i had to take down my extrusion multiplier to .82 to get a .42mm wall thickness.

So if everything is right i should put my Extrusion multiplier back to 0 or within .1 range and get .48mm wall thickness?

i believe thats what i did get at first and i changed it to get closer to .4

thanks for the help!!

There's nothing wrong with this object. It slices just fine on my Kiss version. But I think I know the problem.

Your model walls are only .4mm thick. The standard extrusion out of a .35mm nozzle is .42mm, out of a 40mm nozzle, the extrusion width is .48mm.

In my case, the extrusion width was close enough to the model's wall width, that it generated the slice. If you're using a newer Solidoodle, with a .4mm nozzle, your Kiss setting for extrusion width is .48mm, and it's outside the slicers ability to generate a single wall.

Your model wall widths should never be smaller than the extrusion width.

So in this case, you have a few of options:

Thicken up the wall of the model

Use the model you have, but enlarge it (2x is good) so the walls get thicker

Change the extrusion width in Kiss to something like .4mm. The problem with this is that the extrusion is too thin for your printhead, and you'll end up with perimeter that don't join.

Good luck

had that happen b4. like some odd part was open ended. try doing a default repair in Netfab anyway and export stl. that may find the little culprit. mine showed 1 error repaired. also if several changes are made to slicer profile restart RH b4 slicing with it incase some settings didnt update changes
