The instructions specifically call for the thrust bearing to be compressed, and then to check for 1/4" sticking out.

This is necessary because depending on how much you tighten the barrel, the position of the shaft collar may need to be adjusted. As noted in the instructions, 95mm is just a ballpark.

Also if the thrust bearing wasn't compressed during assembly, then operation most likely pushed the supports into a V. If they are not parallel, then the barrel will be sideloaded and could be damaged. Re-mount the supports on the base now that the pressure from the plastic has compressed the thrust bearing (which again, should have been done manually during assembly).

Then heat to 190C, remove the nozzle, pull the plastic out with needle nose pliers, and check that the auger sticks out of the barrel 1/4" +/- 1/8".

Other thing to check is that the barrel's cutout is still within 45 degrees of vertical.

I raised the temp. No notable change in rate.

I don't know about the thrust bearing being compressed.

We first put on the set screw at the appropriate distance. Followed by a washer, the bearing another washer, and then the white washer.

These were all able to move in the casing.

So I don't think it was compressed. How was it supposed to be compressed. Here's an attached picture. You can see the bearing and the white washer between the gap.

Does this look correct?

Hmm. It could be that your temperature reading is a bit off, try 190C and report back.

Are you certain that with the thrust bearing compressed, the auger stuck out 1/4"?

Are you certain no debris is plugging the nozzle?

Any insulation is fine, that section of the barrel is under 100C.

Just got everything assembled and ran for 3 hours. One issue I'm having is really slow extrusion rate. Followed all the instructions and it's using the initial provided pellets that came with the kit. Temp was set to 180 and the filament looks consistent. (Waiting for a caliper to arrive) Just wondering why is it running so slow?
