It says its running firmware 1.1.1 so I think this is fine.

The Repetier Firmware will work, however the scanner would not be supported by the firmware. If you changed firmware you would simply have a printer that is open source and does not require their cartridges. The board in all of their new printers are all the same now. All they do is remove components from the board for features not included in that model.

Hi, I don't own one but I am also interested on it because of the scanner. I would say that I have read/heard that the scanner and/or scanning software aren't great but I would think that I must test it myself to check it out.
