Hi all I have had this error code 0040 on a Davinci XYZ pro1 W now for a couple of months. The printer boots up and performs all mechanical functions with the exception of auto heat which stops at 92 degrees before dropping to 90 but removing cartridge rapidly heats to 240 degrees then performs filament removal from nozzle, but the minute I try to print the error occurs. Trying to overcome this error I have tried several new SD cards formatted fat32 with various block sizes I tried a paper packing to tighten the SD card and even fitted a new card reader, upgraded firmware fitted new filament cartridge as the old cartridge was empty , please advise me of what never I can do

I am not sure if this is the correct thread, but I have just recently been getting this error. I was given a Davinci 1.0a and in an effort to swap out one of the sample files to allow untethered printing, this error now pops up. I have a micro sd card slot.. I have read everything I can find on the issues and nothing seems to solve the problem:: I have purchased and tried a replacement card (8mb), tried another I had lying around (32mb), transferred the factory files, tried cleaning the pin contacts with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, added layers of scotch tape in an effort to ensure contact with the pins, reformatted the 8mg card to fat32 (from windows) and retransferred the factory files..
I can't print from xyzware either.. i get 'printer error' and the same error code.
The next step I suppose is to get an micro sd extension and see if that helps (maybe the thicker adapter will seat better), otherwise I have a huge dead brick. Thanks to anyone who might be able to assist with this.

Thanks man! I had the same error and this fixed it. i kid you not. Theres like a grey piece of tape holding the SD card "in place" so i guess if thats removed, it voids the warranty. But its fixed!

Now when I try to print anything it gives me the error code 0040. I want to know what I can do to get it working again. It is the 1.0 model and had 1 successful print. All 3 samples do not print nor does xyzware without the error code.

The usual cause of this error is that the machine cannot write the file to memory. If you open the door on the lower back of the machine you will see the controller board. On the right edge of that board is an SD card. That is this systems memory and working area. It may not be seated well or could have come loose during transit. The only possible way to make sure is to to take out all the screws holding the main board in and then leaving all the cables connected just pull the board far enough away from the side of the machine so you can pull the SD card out and reinsert it.

However if this is a new machine and under warranty I would contact XYZ for an RMA number and send the unit back for repair or replacement since opening the back and removing the screws on the board may void your warranty. The fault is in the SD card.
