3D printing steel requires a machine that costs upwards of $500k. If you're going to finish it on a CNC anyway, might as well start there.

Understand steel can be anodized and colored but that process involve putting a aluminium layer over the steel which would not fit my idea. So I thought that maybe it would be possible to print a watch case but looking at some videos on the net I realize that the finish isn't perfectly smooth so each piece would need to be polished. So finally I though about the possibility to print a colored block of steel that could be worked on a CNC machine. Do you this is possible?
