A couple of thoughts about extrusion width...

You are also setting the tool path so you will want to stick pretty close to the 120% rule.

You can absolutely print smaller layer heights than the diameter of your nozzle I have a .6 nozzle and print at .3 mostly but have done (successfully) .2 and .1 with that nozzle. The thing is you'd be printing at those heights more for the strength than for the high quality detail. Since at .3 I haven't experienced any strength issues using a lower layer height just wastes time.

With a .8 nozzle you could most likely fudge that up to 1mm wall thickness but that may be a question for elmoret I think he uses a .8

I am just wondering, for those who run an E3D, what widths have you successfully printed with the larger nozzles? I've got a 0.6mm nozzle and my standard width that I have gotten good results with is 0.72mm (120% of my nozzle diameter). I would like to do some partially transparent vases and having fewer perimeters will allow it to have better transparency but I still want enough width to make them strong. Can I go to 150% of nozzle diameter and print 0.9mm walls? Heck, what if I double it for 1.2mm walls? Triple?

If I buy a 0.8 mm nozzle, can I print walls over 1mm thick? Has anyone tried a small layer height with a large width (i.e. 0.1 layer height with 0.96 widths)? I can play around some but I'm bored at work and just thought I would ask what has been working for others. What are the limits that you have seen?
