Saw on what site? The limiting factor isn't the size of the extruder printed parts, its the distance from the stepper shaft to the edge of the stepper motor.

]]>Power supply question: nope. With a RUMBA, you have everything you need with a PSU elmoret gave. You will also have 2 ports for fans which you can splice into to share your E motor fan with the E3D fan per port....or just have them run off an alternate PSU like I did.

Even if you dropped to geared NEMA11s (you cannot use ungeared NEMA11s, they are too weak) then you trade the X dimension for Y dimension, as you'll hit the back of the motor against the Z rails. Either way, you have to compromise somewhere, and even with geared NEMA11s you'll lose both X and Y travel.

]]>You won't have 6x6x6 if you use a conventional dual extruder, since the printer nozzles will be spaced apart. You'll have more like 4.5x6x6.
You'll need a bigger carriage, probably have to design that yourself. Use 2x Lawsy MK5 extruders and another NEMA17 stepper. You'll need a 5+ stepper driver motherboard, like RUMBA.
What do you need 500 watts for? A 300 watt supply should be more than plenty. I would not trust a Chinese knockoff, Meanwell is a great brand:

Plexiglas (acrylic) is cheap, if you need it cut and draw the DXF I can lasercut it.

]]>n2ri- you may as well upgrade to Lawsy's carriages as a whole while you are at it and grab some LM8UU linear bearings while you are printing the upgraded parts.

sounds just like what SD promised nearly then some. bet I can do all this for under the lowest price of the Apprentice also.
then add the scanner kit posted on this forum, Filastruder and regrinder and still be under workbench price just smaller build area which is all I need for my needs.
I dont think 3D printing has gotten fast enough or fine enough detail to need the large build plates yet. I dont intend to let my printer run for days on end just to print a plastic item, especially when most such items can be bought retail from injector/blowmold manufacturers for pennys compared to that time, material, electric use.
