Try reading through the slicer manual (online) it goes in depth on what the setting do so you can figure out what will effect what.
manual.slic3r.org/

The XYZPrinting filament prints at a lower temp than most other filaments - so yeah bumping up your temp may help.

Calibrate your extrusion multiplier!
github.com/alexrj/Slic3r/wiki/Calibration
I wind up running test prints for each roll of filament, just to be sure.

I am still playing around with layer height and thickness.
But using the slic3r manual reconditions for a .4 nozzle works for most of my filament.
(I have some filament that is having weird jamming issues no mater how I tweak the settings. I am beginning to suspect that the nozzle might be a bit bigger than .4mm. I plan on running more tests to see.)

There are quite a few things that can contribute to the quality of your prints. That said, are you using the same temperatures with the XYZ and the new filament? Not all brands are the same, even if it is the same color ABS. Try bumping your temp up by 5-10 degrees and see if that helps. Maybe post a few pics and see if anyone else has any ideas.

Good Luck!

hi guys

I have been using my da vinci for over a week now and have had some great... and some pretty bad results with filament. to tell you the truth, the stock filament has been better than a new spool of "Top Quality filament" from boots industries.

I have used all of the filament that came with the printer, and started using the new filament, and the prints are EXACTLY the same, and are completely different! I can post pictures if you guys think I would need it, but my main question is..... what do I have to change in a slic3r program when changing filament? I contacted boots, and they say nothing, but there is no way that I am willing to have these bad prints....

Also, does anyone know where xyz buys there filament, one method of fixing my problem may be just to buy a spool from their supplier?

thanks
alex
