You can do two colors with XYZware:
- import two (or more) stl files
- select one of them (if it doesn't work try rotating the view)
- click on the info button
- select the extruder

XYZware has the option to not automatically move the two objects when inserted, so they are in their original position. Good, they thought about it. Too bad that option is grayed out and your two parts will always move.

I was able to make a two color part:
- add two little 1x1x1 cubes on the diagonals, outside of the bounding box of the object, so the area is defined by the cubes, not by the object
- save one stl file with the white and the cubes
- save another stl file with the red and the cubes
- import both the files
- select the first one
- click on the move button, click on the X and Y numbers and set them to any round number
- select the second one and to the same
At this point both the objects are on the same position, and the print will work well

The problem is that it works well with simple objects, like the samples. But if you try something more complex, XYZware just doesn't work.

I opted for the 1.0 because of the build volume alone. I have yet to see any AMAZING dual extruded parts that don't look cheap. I believe xyzware is going to come out with a dissolvable support material system in the future, so do some research before you decide. It might end up being worth the extra money after all

I just got my DaVinci 2, and I am disappointed because I scarified 5 cm of bed to get the second extruder, only to find out that it's almost useless and unusable.

It's useless because you can't use two different materials, for example one for the support and one for the part, and if you want two colors on the same part you just paint it.

It's unusable because the software that comes with the printer is only good for boxes and little objects. When you get into more complex shapes it either crashes or generates programs that fail miserably. And using Cura or other available software, you can't select which part is extruder 1 and which part is extruder 2.

What is your opinion?

Is it worth more 50mm of bed or 1 extruder?

Should I just return the 2.0 and exchange it for a 1.0?
