I have the SD4 with the Printrboard Rev. E. I did try just plugging in an SD card and using repetier to poke around at it and nothing. So, I think it is safe to assume that it is not enabled in the firmware.

Slimstar, did you need to enable it in the firmware first?

BTW, unless you move the electronics or get a uSD extender (I have one) using an SD card in the SD4 would require removing the enclosure for the electronics every time you wanted to get your card in and out. It is located on the board facing the very bottom of the SD4, you can't even get your fingers in from the side to take it in and out.

For me, at least, setting up octopi, an old laptop, or a tablet as a print server is more desirable.

Hi Skateguy 2000 I have a SD3. I bought a Panelolu 2 board from Think3DPrint3D (in UK about $40 website t3p3.com). It took a little tweaking but now works great. I get an LCD screen with all my options and controls, an encoder knob to scroll thru options , indicators for heaters & fan , a push button to make selections oh yeah did I forget it has it's own SD card slot that works great. I don't know what Motherboard is in SD4 But mine is Solidoodle Printrbot Rev E. I hope this helps you. Bill D.

My guess is that they didn't implement the SD card, but it doesn't have much use without a display and control panel which the SD4 also does not have. I don't see why you couldn't just turn on that setting in configuration.h of the Marlin firmware (along with the display and controls) and get it to work. As far as I know, there is no conflict.

Hello! I am about to buy an SD4, but I was just wondering if anyone has figured out a way to use the SD card slot on the motherboard. For whatever reason, solidoodle has decided not to utilize it in their stock firmware but the motherboard is printrboard based which obviously means it can be reprogrammed. Has anyone done so to use the SD card slot?

Thanks,
H
