to be honest not impressed with solidoodle poor customer service and junk products

Basically I screwed a 5/16-18 nut down on top of the z-axis guide nut holder. I made it just snug enough to remove the backlash (finger tight) and locked it in place with some hot-melt glue. The difference was kind of surprising.

If you zoom in on the picture you can kind of see the nut in the background.

I'm convinced that a bit of wobble in endemic to the machine, because SD has posted some of their factory prints on facebook with the same condition.  But the picture you posted looks way worse.  I ordered a new Z screw with my replacement extruder hot end the other, day, but I'm not sure I'll use it right away.

I notice it at all levels.  The .3mm really shows the wobble effect as the build is linear in nature at very regular intervals.  I have tried printing at .1mm, but I get a lot of smooshing when building at higher levels and with the wobble, I'm not sure what's causing it.  Once I have .3 dialed in and regular, I'll attempt the .1 again and see if it's the screw or maybe bed temp settings.

Not as noticeable as yours, but I can see the stepper slightly moving like yours. I notice it quite a bit at .2mm but not as much at .3mm

I am wondering how you would go about replacing it yourself? Has anyone bought a new Z axis threaded rod and got it working successfully?

The steel base of the unit is wobbling due to the stepper's rotation.  The objects by the motor show the extent of the wobble and as you can see they go up and down with the rotation of the screw.  I don't know if it is normal for this or if my screw is just tweaked. 

As an FYI, this has been doing this since day one... just never gave it any thought til now that I've exhausted all my options.
