Targeted toward 3d printing, with tools for support generation & much more.
I'll also second Wings 3d, it's a very powerful modelling tool.

It is a suprising great modeling software that is easy to learn and its free. The only draw back is there is no measurement system. But at the very least you can import the file and export it as one of many other files that are more widely usable.

I have an STL file that I want to make a little shorter.
