A few paragraphs from the top I talk about backing up existing firmware. I think any ISP with support in avrdude would work the same way if you just change the -c option appropriately.

It depends on the way the "fuse" bits are set though. They can be used to disable reading the firmware once it is written.

I just wanted to add it to my collection.

Also, sometimes, by analyzing previous versions, insights/backdoors can be found into newer versions.

Just a quick question: do any of you know if it's possible to backup the firmware currently installed on the printer?
In another forum, it was mentioned that one possible way would be via JTag (If certain bits weren't locked)

Just checking here in case someone has any ideas.
