Just to clarify the settings says:

"Rapid Movement Speed for when the machine is not printing. This should match your actual z-axis movement speed between layers when printing, for accurate printing times."

It's set to 30mm/sec right now.

So it appears it controls both the non-printing rapid movement speed on Z, and also is used to determine accurate print estimation times in the preview.

no I am using simplify 3d printing software not repetir host and asked me to give us z speed to estimate total print time

The only thing I could think was the slicer is where we put all the X and Y speeds, and since we don't change the Z except for firmware/eeprom, its asking since it can't request it?

What? This (z-axis motor speed) is going to depend on a ton of things, namely layer size and layer speed.

3-5mm/s, quite slow. Would it let you print without the estimate?

What is the correct speed for the SD3 Z motor under normal printing?

My printing program is asking, that way it can give me an "accurate estimated printing time"

edit: after looking, it's actually the "rapid z speed" when not printing.
