Just to give it a quick try, use the feedrate slider in Repetier on the Manual Control tab. You should find that you only need to slow down while printing overhangs. By using the slider you can fine tune as you go and speed it back up when you are past that point.

Thanks, I've been using the preset for 0.3mm but I'll try with the default settings. I see that the speed for perimeters is 30mm/s on default but 60mm/s on 0.3mm? I guess I'll just try to play around with those settings.

On something that small you need to slow it way down. Even then without a fan it will be difficult to totally eliminate the problem. Heated enclosures can help also.

So I tried again with the new temp settings, and after I readjusted the Z-stop to a better value. It now managed to print the whole Maker faire robot, probably mainly because of the Z-stop attaching the first layer better, but the warping is still there.

I took a video and a couple of pictures to show what's going on - hopefully somebody can say what's happening here and what I need to do.

In this photo you can clearly see how the edges are warping upwards, and how "messy" the layers become because of that. The feet of the robot are nice and smooth/even, but once the model goes outwards, the layers are going insane, probably mainly because of the warping.

Thank you. I'll try with higher temps next time. I find it hard to know how to adjust the z stop exactly, but I'll try to mess with that a bit too.

Would glass + abs/acetone slurry have better grip than the plastic that's on there from delivery? I mean, is better grip the point here?

Several tips.
Knock the bed temp up to 110c, adjust the Z-stop so it squishes the first layer into the bed a bit more and also perhaps up the temp of the extruder to around 210-215 for the first 10 or so layers.
You'd be surprised at how much of a difference the bed temp can make.

Also if you've not already I'd suggest grabbing a few sheets of glass to use on top of the bed with either some acetone/abs sludge or aquanet spray.

Hey everybody, I'm a new Solidoodle 4 owner, and I've just started testing my new printer with a few prints. I've got PLA printing OK, but I can't seem to print ABS because the edges "warp" upwards and after a while the extruder nozzle will catch on them and knock the print over.

Is this common? I would imagine it's got something to do with my temperature settings, I'm running the extruder at 190c and the bed at 90c.
