Here is the final installation. The LCD is not properly mounted because the cables that came with it are too short, so I'll have to get some new cables from work to lengthen it, as well as make a mount of some sort.

Also attached are the STLs for the LCD enclosure

Interesting. I was going to just make a button that would press fit over the switch shaft, and be flush with the case surface.

I can see how the button could jam if it were too tight a fit through the case hole, debris and stuff could get in there and eventually make it jam.

On the other hand I'm not a big fan of the flex-rib buttons either, I work for a computer company, and over the years we had to replace so many broken buttons of this type, I can't even count.

I'll have to think of something, maybe a spring loaded button.

Looks good .. But may I suggest you consider lifting the integrated e-stop button from this case top for the full graphics display:

I had one of the original cases (which yours outwardly would appear to be largely a clone of - but hey - theres only so many ways to build the case and you've got different ribbing on the base piece ) , but switched 3 of them over to this new style - I found that quite often the protruding button would all by itself hit 'stop' occasionally and it would also prove to wedge itself in on at least 2 examples...

Anyway - just a suggestion - I found the updated version much better and its one less thing to worry about during assembly...

re mosfets - mine was very similar and I've had issues so thats why I mentioned it - I thought they'd be ok but cooked the bed mosfet on one... - I ended up changing to a bigger fan (should really update my stl/post). *shrug* all good.

I'll check the other thread..

Thanks Adrian. I don't think there will be any thermal problems with the MOSFETS, they're open on all sides, and even on top there's about 3 mm clearance. Then there's the fan. I should be OK.

Hey, since you probably have more experience with the RAMPS than most, I do have a question I posted in the Mods section regarding the RAMPS and available voltages.. Can you take a look?

Just watch those mosfets don't get too toasty with that ledge over them - one thing I've learnt is that you need to keep 'em cool if you are running a decent draw bed...

I know that both Lawsy and Adrian have already posted some pretty good adapter plates for the RAMPS board, but here is my take on it.

It bolts on the original bolt holes of the Sanguinololu, and mounts the Arduino+RAMPS+LCDSmart adapter. It also has a cantilevered fan mount for 50mm fans.

I printed it in 3 parts, the base plate, the fan mount plate and the fan plate side riser. The side riser is glued to the fan plate. The fan itself is press fitted on the pins, without any screws. The pins are tapered so the fan fits tightly when pressed all they way flush with the face of the plate, yet it can still be removed without any tools.
