Ive just sandblasted my 3mm glass bed out of interest and i think i may have stumlbed across an even better substitute for hairspray. It has left the surface frosted and slighty 'pitted' it feels like it would be perfect. Its about equal to 400 grit sand paper.

Im running a 4hr print at the moment but when its done ill test it out and see how it goes.
Photo attached with a clear glass plate comparison.
