One SSR is for the enclosure heater (runs off 240V AC), which up until now had it's own PID controller and sat in the bottom of the case (what z range are you talking about?? ). That's going to end up on one of the wall panels, and controlled by the rumba so I can turn it off when the print is done (currently sort of prevents overnight printing, don't like leaving handmade heaters on overnight...).

The other is for the bed heater (potentially) - but at the moment it's just the stock bed and the rumba should be more than capable of handling that. Thought I'd stick the SSR in for space reasons for now, in case I want to change the bed in the future (e.g. to a 240V one).

You'll notice I've only just started doing the wiring, as I've been procrastinating from chopping all the stock wiring off to put longer lengths in (needs to reach under the case now, rather than just to the back).

I have not posted here in a while.  We have an early SD3, and I have pretty much worn it out after 10 spools or so.  We bought a QU-BD RXL and have suffered all manner of issues (4 months to get it, broken when it arrived, rookie design issues that are too numerous to mention) but I have finally worked out all the bugs and it is awesome.  But I would not recommend it.  Good idea but really truly lousy company.  I think the principal means well, he is just in way over his head and does not have the right tools to swim.  A common story in this business.

Regardless, here is the RXL enclosure.  Aluminum L TIG welded together with acrylic sides.  The box has to be proud of all the sides since some bits of the machine extend beyond the frame (QU-BD does not think enclosures are a necessity - we in this forum know better of course).

Now I can go through the SD3 and upgrade the worn out extruder, bearings and bed heater (and rebuild the enclosure - using a heat gun to speed up the bed heating process will warp acrylic sheet - DOH!).
