I never thought about using the fan header as a laser controller..

Could use a sanguinololu to power a normal cutter.

Dont hope for it doing anything more than paper and thin balsa...

This kit is a combination of the popular 1.7W 445nm Laser Diode Component and the 2.0 Amp matching laser driver kit with a 12V adapter.

Its a laser engraver at best.. its no cutter...

There are some videos of there 1.7 watt (not sure what nm) laser cutting balsa wood sheets. However they were thin sheets.

what could it cut though? i had a 2 watt 445 nm laser, sure it could burn black paper o r darck colored fabrics melt certain dark colored plastics, but its not gonna go burning through wood from what ive seen.
