Contact SD support Support@solidoodle.com It sounds like you have a bad stepper driver or other problem with the main board, they will be able to properly troubleshoot it with you and take care of you.

The only other thing that *might* be wrong and is user fixable is if the stepper trim pot for the X axis is set way off, does it make any noise or look/sound like it is even trying to move? or can you with the power off move it to the opposite side of the printer then power it up and have the computer move it the other direction...

The fact that it is very hard to move with power applied means that the stepper driver is not completely inoperative as this is normal,

I've unpacked and installed everything for my Solidoodle 3, followed all instructions and then realized that my x axis wasn't moving and when I would try and move it under manual controls, it would just shake a bit and make loud noises. Couldn't move it along the belt by hand as it just tightened incredibly stiff, but would be able to when it was unplugged and no power was being sent to it.

I redirected the cords in the back and interchanged the faulted X with Y and then X worked fine, but then Y didn't.

What should I do at this point?
