I was having a problem with my glass chipping when I did this. The glass would flake off with the print. I had a two speed paint remover type heat gun that I ran at the low speed. Worked great to get the bed up to speed in a few minutes but I got tired of buying new glass. Also, I had to worry about burning myself or equipment if I wasn't careful.

Now I just deal with the 10 minute heat up by turning the printer on and start the bed heating before I set up Repetier Host and slice the files. And I leave the bed heater on if I plan on doing multiple prints. You can set that up in Repeter's "Printer Settings".
