I generally (when i charge) go at about $40/hr for just modeling. Design/Engineering is about $60-80/hr depending on what it is. It's a market system, set it high, see what happens. I would think 85-100/hour is expected around here if your modeling is expert level, and your cad program is more than free software. A good friend of mine specialized in hard to model parts, and is fluent in all the major cad applications. His rate to medical device companies is way way higher than 85/hr. If you want a part quote you can get them online from companies like redeye on demand, owned by, Stratasys. I use these guys and others (Protomold, Schmidt) from time to time, as they do make quality parts. Depending on the part I can sometimes match the quality and halve their price. Been making some one off stuff and not sure how much I should be charging?
Note: This is just a hobby right now so it's not to important. Just trying to offset the costs of mods and filaments.
