I had to RMA my noctua fan. One of the wire's had a problem and would stop the fan a lot. Probably from all the moving it had to do along that cable wrap. No problem though cause they shipped me a new one. I would still buy again. Great fan...very quiet.

There are Prime sellers for the Noctua at +$3 or so. My fan died completely and I also just cut off the wires, except I replaced with this cheaper ball-bearing fan and also soldered a JST connector so I can change easily in the future if needed.

It is just a standard 40mm computer fan. I replaced mine when it was making annoying grinding noises using one of these expensive but fantastically quiet ones:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NQ … &psc=1

It comes with a lot of different connectors for hooking it up, among them was some little "buttons" you can use to splice wires without fooling with solder and shrink wrap. I simply cut the wires off the existing fan (as close to the fan as possible to leave slack in the cable) and also cut the wire on the new fan and stripped off the outer wrap to expose the individual wires, then I simply stuck the matching wires in the buttons and pressed them down with pliers. It has been almost totally silent and has worked great.
