UPDATE: So I just found a supposed way to test them.  I took a very small LED and pushed the two pins into the connector for the X-Axis stepper (which I obviously disconnected from the board).  When you move the stepper along the carriage it lights up the LED.  So doesnt this mean my stepper should be okay?

have you tried this link...  If it was a Sang I would replace each stepper one by one with a known good one.

Not sure,  I thought the steppers were directly connected to the board on the Rev E's.  But I could be wrong.

The steppers are really sensitive and you might have shorted them out.  I've done it a couple of times already myself  roll

What board do you have?  the new printerboard or the older Sangunilolou?
