Ball bearing fans are not that much more and you will have a lot less headaches.

I started a thread yesterday when my fan jammed. Unfortunately when mine went it got hot enough to soften the plastic and caused it to bunch up in the tube, lol..

So at least I can stick up with the fact that its partially important. It was kinda a crap fan, so I replaced it with a slightly better quality one.

the fan on the extruder is just a very cheap low cfm fan... it really does not need much flow to do it's intended function. The only problem that might happen printing with what you have now would be the extruder might strip the filament or cause a binding jam on the infeed to the hotend... a lot of people print with the fan not working and do not have a problem... it just depends on how warm the environment is surrounding the printer and how flexible the filament you are using is.

A while ago I broke the fan of my solidoodle 3rd generation. I bought a new one and I changed it by cutting the wires and joining them, but the fan didn't work so I waited until I got a new one to try again. But once again it failed, the problem was the same: it's turns way too weakly. I think the problem might have something to do with the motherboard, and I would like to know what happened and what should I do.
Thanks for your help.

PS: I haven't tried to print again or move the extruder because I'm afraid that the fan working poorly might do more harm.
