Running windows 7 .NET 3.5 on laptop. Have nothing else plugged in except my Solidoodle 2. Followed all the instructions offered on the Solidoodle page, have a one of two COM ports selected (so it's not the 'virtual printer' problem) and I'm stumped because no matter what I do or how many hours I spend at this, nothing happens when I try to manually move the axis. The weird thing is, the fan and heat seem to work fine on the extruder.. I have re-installed the Repetier software / drivers 3 times while printer is disconnected, followed the instructions given exactly, and I got nothing. Please help!

Hi mocallins, sorry to hear you are having problems with windows not working properly with the printer, one of the biggest flaws windows has is it will not tell you what the error is in a lot of cases you have to search deep into error logs to even get a clue. The main thing with windows7/8 is to make sure driver signing is OFF here are a couple of past threads that dealt with similar problems.

http://www.soliforum.com/topic/2906/win … ssues-ugh/

http://www.soliforum.com/topic/3207/can … win-7-64x/

I just fell into the same trap trying to set up mine.

Your Repetier "Solidoodle 2" profile defaults (in the printer settings) to "Virtual Printer". Unplug your USB connection and open device manager on your PC. Watch the USB ports, and connect the (powered on) Solidoodle. A new Com port (number 9 on my machine) will appear as a serial USB port.

In Repetier Host, change the printer setting to use that Com Port and 250000 baud. That was the only change I made, and could then move the print head, bed and turn on the bed heater (and have it actually warm up).

That is as far as I have got at the moment.

Good Luck

Hi all,
I have recently acquired a Solidoodle 2. I installed the Serial Driver and the Repetier Installer on 2 laptops (one is win 7 and one is win 8). That part went smoothly enough. When I plug in the solidoodle's USB it does get recognized by at least one laptop. The machine powers on - the lights turn on and the fan starts whirring. I've read some can hear the motors idling - I hear no such thing.

In Repetier I can connect (supposedly) to the Solidoodle and I can turn on the heat to both the extruder and the heated bed (supposedly). The software shows the temperature gradually rising to the numbers I've set it to, but in reality nothing is heating up. When attempting to adjust the X+/X-, Z+/Z- manually absolutely nothing happens.

I have until Saturday to get this thing up and running for a demonstration. I'd really like a concise list of troubleshooting suggestions. I won't be offended if anyone pastes links to existing threads - I just really need help with this and time is of the essence.

Thanks in advance
