I have 300 watt atx psu , says 12v and max current of 15A. Specs are good, just wondering if I could replace the stock SD PS with that.

QU-BD silicone beds have been covered plenty here if you search and no, the stock power supply is not up to it.

Check the for sale section in the forums. Someone was giving away a sd3 platform. You could just replace the heater then.

yup , my SD3 is 9 mo old and has worked ok til yesterday.

has it ever reached 95 for you?

do you have the stock power supply unit?

Stock PSU and heater tends to be limited between 78-86 ish degrees, before the power supply and voltage limits it. I have a slightly higher wattage PSU at a higher voltage (~13.7v) so it pulls more current (bc of higher voltage) and the unit can deliver it. But even then my stock heater is limited to about 95C

Today I noticed the print bed temp would not go any higher than 78c , even tho I have it set to 95c in RH printer settings. It took hours even to get to that temp.Bad heater or board?
