I assume pieces caught between the opening in the pipe and the edge of the auger would get sheared off. You wouldn't want to do this while also trying to make filament.. if it's at all viable I'd have a separate setup just for that.

Any thoughts? I'd rather have something that could deal with larger pieces anyway.
