I just looked at your picture. I think that noise you hear is the motor shaft slipping inside of that aluminum coupler. Make sure that is seated all the way and tight. If you put a dab of blue thread lock on it (careful not to get any in the motor) and then slide it on the shaft, that helps give it a touch more friction. Make sure you let it setup before moving the motor.

If you want to test to make sure it isn't the motor, then remove the threaded rod or coupling from the motor and then check to see if it squeals.

You need a NEMA17 that does 1.8 steps per rotation. It is a standard size with standard mounting holes. You should be okay with anyone that has 2 KG*cm holding torque or better. Generally however, the more holding torque it has, the longer the body is. If it gets too long it will prevent you from getting your full Z build height. It would be best to measure the length of yours and try to match it.

I removed the Z-rod from the motor a couple of day ago. The rod did not came out clean and part of it still stuck to the base of the z motor. However, i still have enough room to add the z coupler and went ahead with the modification anyway.
The problem is, i think i may have damage the motor.
It squeal loudly now, the print still ok but just make loud noise when the z axis move up and down.

Please let me know where i can buy just the z motor without the rod or should i go ahead and buy the replacement from solidoodle and try my luck again.
