Haven't had a chance to test as I'm waiting on my lead screw to come in (this week, probably tomorrow).  I'll report back with pictures when I have a chance.

So essentially this process transfers the toner (which is just plastic with a metal oxide) to the print (also plastic) via the solution.  Wonder if it melts the print some too as it has to do something to get the image off the paper.

I can see why this wouldn't work with inkjet as that's just dye sprayed on to paper whereas the toner is actually melted (fused actually) on the paper by the heat transfer rollers.

Ingenious really.  I ought to try to get some of the solution and try to replicate it with just black from my old LaserJet 4m+.  Color is expensive, but black would transfer logos right as rain and would be cheaper than some other alternatives.  If you could use a color print of a photo you could make all kinds of neat personalized items.

Does is have to be laser "paper" or can you use standard paper and just need the laser printer?

The price fix might be to get the color copy done at an outside copy place.  Kinkos etc.

In the first photograph I posted (with 6 logos), the bottom two are colored with black sharpie.
I ran orange filament through and I estimated where to start coloring so it would come through in time for it to be printed.
So it turned from orange to dark burgundy.  The next one is where I let it purge back out to orange.

Give it a shot, on white filament it takes very little marker to see some color.

I can't quite get the knack for it.  Something in pronterface reverses the filament back out when I resume the prints.   The only one that really worked was the black on white. 
For some of the others I tried various coloring ideas.  Such as changing color and not purging the extruder.  Letting the color change across layers.  Another even weirder method I tried was to physically color the filament with marker.   While it works.  The results weren't consistent.
So something like this will be ideal for coloring prints!

I like this idea! 
A few of my friends had requested Gsxr logos to match their bikes.
This is much better than trying to do mid print color changes etc!

yes

I wanted my prints to have more than one color, so i experimented with few things and found a decent solution if you want to have a texture to your prints.

What you need is:

• A Solidoodle!

• Laser Paper Printer

• Claudline Hellmuth - Studio Multi-Medium, Gloss(?)
  

So what you do is; Print out whatever you want using your 3D-printer. Design whatever logo\texture in your favorite design software (paint \ photoshop \ gimp etc). Then print it out using your Laser paper printer (Doesnt work with normal ink printers).

Then you put on some Claudline Hellmuth to the 3d printed object. After that you take the paper you printed out using your laser printer, and stick it to the claudline hellmuth that you put on your 3d print.

Make sure theres no air bubbles and then wait atleast 2-3 hours.

After the waiting game, put it all under wather and then carefully start to clean away the paper itself. Do it layer by layer and after few mins, the color will stick to the 3d printed object while the paper itself is washed away.

I'm terrible at describing stuff, and making guides\tutorials isnt my thing, so give me some time and ill try update this enough so its understandable - Atleast i found it pretty cool and easy to make more colors to your print.. Only bad thing is that you need a Laser printer, normal ink printer doesnt work as far as i know.

As i mentioned, this is my first test and i will be uploading more examples of how you can use it to make your 3d printed stuff to stand out more
