We are open to discussion of all 3d printers here, not just the solidoodle. If a specific printer gets enough attention, I have no problem making a dedicated section for it. We started off as a solidoodle forum, but now we are open to everything.

Once the wiki page is built up we can sticky a thread pointing to it.

Users can't stick topics, only moderators (Brad/Lawsy/IanJohnson).

Your best bet is to make a post in the thread DeParted linked aggregating all of the info, or a wiki page. Once there is a good central location with *quality* information, PM a moderator and ask them to stick it.

How does one create a sticky, and how does one gather input from other users? maybe using survey monkey or something? I could start it off with my input on the filaments I've used. I am not sure if filaments behave that much differently with different printers, but so far I can only conclude that SD filament works well with common colors like blue, red, white, and green, and so far Octave is a bit runny and has shreded a bit more than the SD filament, which only means I should clean the gears every other print (which for $10 less than SD could be worth it). Also I have been weighing the rolls full and empty so I know how much I actually get when I order from various companies. I worry it is ultimately all from China anyway, but there are some apparent differences between them. lol. Maybe people could review even the width of the roll itself. I personally prefered the wide roles because the filament was wrapped better and didn't yank the Y carriage when it snagged. How can I start building a sticky? I was thinking mostly in terms of tables of data, and some reviews in ones own words.

It is the #2 Google hit for "3D Printing Forums" so I don't see the harm in branching out. I think that is why we are starting to see more posters come by with general "What printer should I buy" questions. So much of what we talk about applies to the hobby in general anyway. That is why I like to check in on the Makerbot group and other printer forums, sometimes there are things to learn there that apply to the Solidoodle.

Is this forum dedicated mostly to Solidoodle issues or is it for 3D printing in general largely? If I could I'd love to create a sticky for reviewing filaments and other parts so everyone can give their input in a more tabulated way instead of just in a particular context throughout the forums.
