They have used both 4-40 and M3 hardware on their extruders.

I know they use M3 for most everything, but these really are 4-40, the nut goes on smooth as silk with no binding at all, and the bolts.jpg I attached above really does make them look like different sizes. I have no idea why they used 4-40 mind you, but it sure seems like they did.

Be careful, #4 diameter is equivalent to 0.112" which is around 2.84mm. An M3 screw is 3mm, so I could see where a #4-40 nut would fit a 3mm bolt. Solidoodle extruders have traditionally been assembled with M3 bolts, so I doubt that they would swap to a different type.

OK. I got some 4-40 nuts (finally, the little devils are hard to find) and there is no doubt about it, on my jigsaw they are definitely 4-40 bolts sticking out.

I don't know. If I look at the closeup of the side view and assume the black bolt sticking out the bottom is M3, then the chrome bolt sticking out the front seems a lot like a 4-40 bolt after I pick off measurements with gimp and do some calculations :-).

Mine looks like this, and it uses M3 nuts.

My new solidoodle has the jigsaw assembled the "new" way with the threads on the bottom two bolts facing the front of the machine rather than the bolt heads facing the front.

I'm thinking there is enough bolt sticking out that I could print an accessory holder that could slide on the wood piece and then be screwed on the ends of the bolts, if only I knew what size nuts to use?

Anyone know for sure?

P.S. Looking at it from the side, they really don't look like the same size bolts as all the other black ones that face the other way.
