I wont speak for anyone else but I don't hate you. In fact I think that if it works as advertised for $200 I'd gladly buy one. The truth is; I'm skeptical. Simply having a better optical camera doesn't mean it will WORK better. The WFC (AKA Pretty Picture Camera) on the Hubble Telescope "only" has a CCD of ~8.3MP (well ok, it has two of them); but that doesn't mean this thing is going to be rendering the Butterfly Nebula anytime soon.

Add in the lame "look what I found which I'm totally not affiliated with" marketing ploy and at best; I'll wait until a few of them are in the wild before considering putting my wallet on the table.

I knew someone was gonna call me on that. In addition to what elmoret said, the project in question is set up that way. Sure, there can be other indiegogo projects that aren't that way, but not germane here. But I should have worded it more precisely, sure.

Incorrect, Kickstarter only has all-or-nothing. There is no equivalent of Indiegogo's Flexible Funding.

A large number of project creators choose flexible funding on igg, which leads to the post above - igg has become synonymous with flexible funding. It is really the only reason to choose igg over KS, since KS gets way more eyeballs.

If it were on Kickstarter I might get in, but on Indiegogo [at least on this project, as with most], your money goes in whether or not the project funds. Too much risk without some assurance that the project and seller are a pretty sure thing. Nothing personal, but we know nothing about you other than that you're able to post things on the Internet.

You may take a look of what accuracy you really have with low cost 3d scanner, they always show you perfect scan from simple objects and they are not telling you how much works they have done on the scan result to provide a good render, but when you try with more complex object and without doing some work on the 3d object the result is really différent.
Of course if you only want to scan garden's dwarf it's OK but when you are going to try some complex forms the result will be far from you're desire even if you don't need good accuracy.
At least you can have quite good results with only photos and the software that use this kind of process.

Rubicon or markerbots scanner, one or the other haven't enough precision to give a real interresting result, I already have a david laser scanner , it's quite the same.
To have a result that will give all satisfaction you need an industrial camera that cost , at least, 700/800 €(800/900$) or else you don't have enough precision, you also must know that you still have to do some work on the 3 model after it has been scanned.
A real good 3D scanner will cost 3000/4000 €, it have 2 or 3 camera and 3 to 6 laser, so there is quite nothing to do to reduce the price.
