I have an SD3 and I took the aluminum bed off.
I used two pieces of 2"X 1/8" aluminum flat bar and mounted them using the t-nuts that are in the wood platform that the aluminum bed used.
Then drilled holes in the bars to match the Helios bed.
I will be printing on glass when I get up and running. (hopefully before Christmas).
As for the Kapton tape it is an insulator that hold the heat in the heat bed.
I don't see where you need it if printing on glass.
