We only used the SD3 to make PARTS:P</p><div class="quotebox"><blockquote><p>I would like to know what laser and what controller was used to run the machine.&nbsp; Looks neat.</p></blockquote></div><p>We ported GRBL to run on an AVR ATmega128. It&#039;s not optimal when it comes to high movement speeds and computational power, but it works okey:)</p><p>The laser is at the moment a 2W 445nm, but we run it at only 0.5W, because of the temporarily drivers low current possibility:/ But that will soon change, making it possible to engrave much faster and maybe(?) cut through some types of material.</p><p>Cutting through kapton for making soldering stencils would have been awesome!</p>]]></content>

One of the main reason we did this was to get som hands on with making linear motion mechanics:) (And of course; a CNC machine is more expensive..)</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Hi all!</p><p>We used the SD3 to make parts for a laser engraver <img src="https://www.soliforum.com/img/smilies/smile.png" width="15" height="15" alt="smile" /></p><p>Making something that &quot;mechanic&quot; was a great way to learn the SD3 and how to use a more complex CAD software (Inventor in this case).</p><p>The attached image is the first revision of the main slider.
