I have had that kind of problem before, from the X endstop wire rubbing against the edge of the glass and getting abraded. The endstop started triggering during prints causing skips. I set the firmware to use endstops only during homing so that any triggers during the print would be ignored. That got it to work until I could deal with it.

The Solidoodle website has a page on updating the firmware in the how to section, but if you have the new board they started shipping in the last few weeks, then those instructions are out of date.

Thank you for the clarification on the trimpot. I haven't figured that one out yet.

I have checked the wires at the board. My next step is to check them at the switches.

If you have any other suggestions, I will gladly try them.

there is no trimpot related to endstop, so not sure where that is coming from. Likewise, the #defines you refer to wont have any impact on the symptoms you describe.

You may have a loose connection or a minor short around the limit-switches... try just unplugging and replugging...

But I think you're layer-shift issue is correlation not causation of the limit-switch problem.. i.e... I think you'll find you have multiple issues that appear to be presenting themselves as symptomatically related but probably wont be...

I have been printing with my Solidoodle3 for about a month, and just started have an issue with layer shifting. I have checked the tension on the belts and lubed the rods, but I have confirmed that it is not skipping teeth or catching up in its movement. I have noticed in the log that it reports an Endstop hit each time that the layer shifts.

I tried putting a fan on the circuit board, which didn't help. I have searched "layer shift" and have not found the fix. I ran across a post, that I have not been able to locate again, that explained how to recompile the Marlin firmware with the ENDSTOPS_ONLY_FOR_HOMING option.

Can someone repost the process for updating the Marlin firmware, using Arduino?
If it makes more sense to adjust the trimpot, please help me understand how that applies to the endstop sensitivity.

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.
