Also, grab the right firmware. You probably have the new main board. The old firmware may not be compatible with the new board. (Just guessing since I have the old board)

Form your original post it sounds like the limit switches may not be working correctly, make sure they are plugged in on the mainboard and in the correct locations.. here is a pic of how they should look(lower right side ZYX plugs):

If these are correct then check to see if the switches are indeed being activated easily by the movement of the printer, there have been cases where the shims had to be installed to make the switch trip sooner.

Yeah, I accidentally had SD2 selected there but I do infact have SD3. As for printer type, I have no idea what one I should be selecting, and so left as default. The max numbers were 150 or so as default I believe, but I changed them to 200 to see if that worked.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that screenshot says at the top"Solidoodle 2". If that's the case, shouldn't the max numbers be 150?

I understand that the o/p said "3rd gen". Maybe I've missed something...

EDIT : also, should the printer type be "Classic with dump area"? Or is "Cartesian" what the setting used to be in older versions of the s/w?

When RH connects to printer, it should dump a bunch of info, somewhere in there is the firmware version string (has a date/version, and authors). What does that say?

I've flashed the firmware as per the Wiki link. Still not sure what I'm doing with dictating the dimensions of the print bed, and with the values I showed in the image I posted, I can't do anything. Which values should I have been changing?

It arrived a couple of days ago, bought directly from Solidoodle. It's an SD3, but I get cryptic errors if I use the SD3 settings sometimes so I've been using a lot of SD2 ones. I'll drop support a message I guess, thanks for the help

When did you pick up the printer ? You're description sounds like the older broken firmware... but you said its an SD3 so now I'm not so sure.... ?

Is this using the 'new' motherboard or the 'old' motherboard ?

What has Solidoodle Support had to say ? If its a new printer - might be just easier to open a case with them...

I really don't get what you're trying to tell me to do

Here's my current settings. Hitting X home results in it trying to go off of the edge, and Y home does nothing attempting to manually move Y does nothing)

I'm not home right now and I don't remember what my settings are for the max. The x is supposed to be off the bed when it is at home. and the Y is supposed to be all the way back. When x and y are at home the extruder should be in the back right corner when looking at the front of the machine.

In the printer tab of RH 85b (the solidoodle packaged version) there should be a printer shape tab to define the travel distance of the axis. Use the dimensions I posted above.

In another spot, possibly another tab, there is a spot that is for the print surface. The x and y should be 200 each. And then there is information for the Dump area.

Sorry I cannot be more specific. If you still cannot get it, I will try to look at my settings this evening when I get home from work.

What version of RH are you using?

I'm having a stupid day, which settings should I be changing? I set the max of X to 100 and it's stopped trying to go off the edge when I hit X home now, but for Y home even a max of -100 sends it off the edge

Yes, its in the printer settings of RH (top right corner). Look in the Printer Shape tab and specify the dimensions.

When I start printing, the head moves to the corner of the printer (3rd gen) and makes an awful noise like it's trying to force beyond that point. It will then move out a bit and commence printing. In the software, the design is in the centre of the print bed, but it comes out in a corner. Is there a way to specify to the printer the physical limitations of the print bed?
