He said he designed the cutout and hopper such that if it is within 45degrees of vertical then things will work, so by being able to rotate the collar/flange by 90 degrees you can always get to within 45.</p><p>Obviously once it has twisted and locked itself it won&#039;t twist further.</p><p>Craig</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Basically, yes. I go as tight as I can by hand without massive tools, and then position the flange such that if the motor tightens it further, the barrel will rotate towards vertical.</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Can&#039;t you just put a big heavy wrench on the barrel in such a way that gravity causes it to create a constant torque in the opposite direction it wants to twist? I&#039;m just saying, if you know the barrel is going to twist and it only twists one way, why not pre-emptively counter that?</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>If you only tighten it on the side towards the flange like the instructions call for, you shouldn&#039;t bend it.</p><p>Sometimes I do have to let the motor finish the job. The nice part about the motor doing it is you get a pure couple, that is a rotation without translation - no net force.</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>I still got barrel twist even after I tightened it as much as I possibly could.&nbsp; It&#039;s better to not risk putting a bend in the barrel trying to tighten it so much and just accept that you will need to readjust for twist a couple of times during the &quot;burn in&quot; period.</p>]]></content>

The problem is that the temp that produces really consistent results is also the temp that causes the barrel to twist. Do I need to be worried about this? Should I just keep going until the hopper is nearly 90 degrees rotated from center?</p>]]></content>
