<![CDATA[SoliForum - 3D Printing Community — What to do with a Cupcake]]> 2013-08-04T05:41:15Z PunBB https://www.soliforum.com/topic/2664/what-to-do-with-a-cupcake/ <![CDATA[Re: What to do with a Cupcake]]> Interesting proposal on finishing.  I was just thinking about making one to use as an engraver/milling machine.  After a little research, the biggest problem seems to be getting enough torque from the motors to cut through wood/metal.  Using it with a dremel hand attachment and a sander would bypass that issue, but it might take a lot of g-coding and placing the piece in the exact same spot for it to work.  Let us know how it works!

I am curious about the light-duty milling machine option, though.  Maybe take some tips from the Solimill thread and try to mount a dremel wand to it and use it for milling foam or soft plastics and woods for models...  Hmmm...

It's nothing impressive yet, just two SD2s and a SD3. I've made over 100 hoppers so far, though - and I've had to weave in other jobs like this one:

Anyone have any tips or suggestions for turning this little box into something useful again?
